The year 2009 is just about over as 2010 is on the horizon. But before we go leaping into the new year, we must first assess our failures and achievements for the current year.

Where you able to meet all your goals this year?

Did you quit smoking like you told yourself on day one of 2009?
Did you get down to the dress or pants size you planned by the end of the year?
Were you able to get rid of the debt that has plagued you over the years?

If you were able to achieve your goals — CONGRATULATIONS ~ WELL DONE!!

However, if you were not able to obtain your goals, do not be discouraged. As long as you gave it your best shot you have no reason to hang your head low. You tried. And that’s all that really matters.

I faced some very tough challenges in 2009. I retired from the military, went full-time in network marketing, and eventually found myself in severe debt. Considering all that had happened, I could of very easily given up on myself and called it quits. Instead, I was able to endure through faith and determination.

Oh, I have to also admit that my faith allowed me to receive great blessings. The kind of things that happened to me were nothing short of miracles. People started to appear in my life like angels from heaven. I don’t know where they came from, but I began to listen and follow them as they took me under their wings and taught me the skills I needed to know to finally succeed. I learned more from them in a few short months than I had learned the eleven previous years in the Internet marketing industry.

My mentors and coaches taught me that education was the most important factor in determining success or failure. Therefore, I worked really hard at educating myself in the many areas of Internet marketing. And by knowing just a little bit more than the next person, I was able brand myself as a professional in this industry. By no means am I a total expert. That sort of skill takes time. However, I know that today I learned a little bit more than I knew yesterday. And tomorrow I will learn a little bit more than I knew today. So, as long as there is a tomorrow, there is knowledge to be gained and better days ahead.

Enough about me…
It was not my plan to tell my story in this particular post. I started writing with goal setting being my topic; however, my heart sort of drifted in that direction. I guess because I know that I am not the only one to have been troubled this year. Maybe you experienced some of the same hardships this year. Perhaps you are still dealing with these hardships. If so, I will tell you that it is only temporary.

The Year 2010 just might be your year to shine. As long as you are persistent and grounded in faith, you will be able to reach your goals. Also, don’t forget to add knowledge and align yourself with people who can/will help you succeed. That in itself will make all the difference in the world.

If you go to work on your goals, your goals will go to work on you. If you go to work on your plan, your plan will go to work on you. Whatever good things we build end up building us. Jim Rohn

This post is a revision from a Squidoo Lens I wrote several months ago: How To Improve Your Business Relationships. I found out through my experiences over the years that attraction marketing is definitely the approach you MUST take in order to find success in the network marketing industry. And a fundamental principle of attraction marketing is establishing or building business relationships. It will take more effort to do, but the end result is a successful and thriving business. We live in a day and time where the know, like and trust factor is the number one thing that stands in the way of us building and growing a successful business.  Business relationships must be established in order for you to succeed.  Your customers must be able to clearly know you are there to assist them by offering them something that is truly of value.  They have to be able to know that you have their best interest at heart.  They must be able to define you, your business, and the products/services you provide.

When I began my online business venture, I had a difficult time building business relationships.  I poured everything I had into meeting people and providing them solutions based on the knowledge I possessed.  I followed the attraction marketing principles by joining a countless number of social networking sites, and I constantly engaged in conversations with everyone I met.  I retweeted tweets on Twitter.  I shared or posted their Facebook updates on my wall.  I commented on their blogs.  I did everything I was supposed to do, but for some reason, I was getting ZERO results.

I could not get a single person to retweet my messages. I could not get any of them to share my Facebook updates.  I could not sell a single product.  Geezzz.. I could not even get my upline sponsors, the people who recruited me into the business, to follow me on these social networking sites.  Now how depressing is that?

Why was I having such a difficult time in building business relationships?

Simple.. they did not know, like, or trust me.

Sure, they saw me as a nice guy, but maybe they also thought I had some hidden agenda.  People are really immune to the nice guy approach these days.  They will listen to you all day long, but when it comes down to taking action, they are very hesitant to take the next step — trusting you.  They have questions about your character.  How could this person be that nice?? Why would he want to help me??  What is in it for him??  Is this offer really free??  These are some of the questions they ask.

With the growing number of scam offers out there, you really can’t blame them for questioning your trust.  People are losing their hard earned money at an alarming rate, and your offer to provide them “a valuable service” is distorted by the facts.  Here are the facts:

The above stats were randomly pulled from the NCL 2008 Fraud Report.  There were other scams identified, but I only pulled these for my illustration purposes.  You can see the full report at NCLnet.org.

Can you now imagine how terrified people must be of you and your so called business?  Can you imagine the amount of trust you must establish with them in order to get them to buy from you?  Today, it takes 10 times as much effort to build relationships as it took in 1997, which is when I originally started in this industry.  You really have to be more than just a nice guy (or gal), you have to have sources or credentials to prove it (content, testimonies, etc.).

You have do more than talk the talk, you have to also be able to walk the walk.

Prove it to me! Show me what you’ve done!

Your walk comes in the form of your content (value). You have to show people what you have done and let your work speak for itself.  This can come in the form having the best blog site to writing some of the most engaging articles.  The more useful content you put out on the Web, the more valuable you become. The more valuable you become, the more profitable your business, and the easier it becomes to gather a following.

So, what can you learn from my experience?

You need to know that your main focus should be on your content.  Go out there and build the best blog site, and people will notice.  Write some of the most helpful ezine articles, and people will notice.  Once you start focusing on your content (value), you will began to see a significant amount of support from your upline and everyone else around you.  People will start to comment on your Squidoo lenses. People will start to seek your advice. They will retweet your tweets and share your status updates.  You will finally break through the barrier.  You will be known, truly liked, and highly trusted in your online community!

If you have been following the show, you know that we only bring you the top network marketers in the industry. Today is no exception. We have with us a young man that is really creating quite a buzz in the industry. You are in for quite a show today as he will be revealing his marketing technique that allows him to generate 50 or more leads almost on a daily basis. This guy is absolutely phenomenal! If I am not careful, they may try to replace me with him next season.

Ok. David Wood is an attraction marketing coach in the Network Marketing industry and Developer Of MLM Global Takeover. He is a great coach and mentor, and an all around awesome guy. So, without further ado, I would like to bring out the MLM Rock Star, Mr. David Wood.

Hello, David. It is great having you on the show today.

Yes. That’s something I found out while doing research for this interview. It appears you acted in a number of low-budget films filmed in Alaska, including, “The Tony Blair Witch Project”; “The Frozen Inferno”; “The End of a Dynasty”; and “Cosmic Space Ninja”. These films were all directed by, Mike A. Martinez. I can go on naming a whole list of films and videos you have done under Mr. Martinez, but frankly , I have never heard of any of them.

Yes, I guess you had to be in Alaska to see them.

I guess so David. Ok. Let’s get to why you are here today. You have a rather impressive marketing technique that you use to generate upwards of 50 leads per day, and you do it all for free. How about you share with my audience the way in which you are able to do this.

Well, Barry. After your little pun about my acting career, I am not so in the mood to share anymore! hahaha. I am just joking.

Before I get into concepts and strategies tonight, I want to let you know that this is literally my first 2 and a half months marketing online. Before this, I have never marketed online in my life. In the last 60 days, I have had more than 33,000 unique visitors to my website, all from content marketing, all 100% free. My articles are all popping up on the top half of Google in over a 100 different niche phrases. So, my point is that this does work.

But what I am going to do guys is go over a couple differ things. I actually want to introduce myself real quick, and I want to provide to you some concepts I use to generate a massive amount of leads from content marketing. I believe a video will be provided to you at the conclusion of this interview, which will walk you through the exact step by step approach I use to generate this massive amount of leads and traffic.

So, this is my quick story. I have lived in 5 different places. I got involved in network marketing like 7 years ago in a company we all know, probably, Amway. And I worked that thing like crazy. I went to meetings, hotel meeting, I did home meetings. I put flyers on cars. I actually try to go out and sell Amway soap door to door, which was probably the stupidest thing I have ever done in my life. I think I had someone throw a rock at me. But I went on to college campuses, I designed surveys trying to get leads. I literally tried everything. And after 3 years of frustration in that business, I finally just threw in the towel, and i said, you know what? I am a skilled person, this isn’t funny, Amway must be a bad company. And Amway is not a bad company, they do about 8 billion dollars a year or something like that. We all know the truth, the actual sales volume that they do. But I quit and I jumped on board another company.

And I went to that company, and I actually made some money pretty fast. I made about 1200 dollars within my first two weeks, and I thought I had hit it man. I was like man I got this figured out. But the reason I had made 1200 dollars in two weeks was not because I had an enlarge skill set. I had been trying to build an Amway business for 2 years, and I had built up a group of about 50 people, and I recruited all 50 people into the new company I had started. Well, after I recruited all of them into the new company I had started, once again my income had went to zero.

Ok. Welcome back everyone, I hope you enjoyed that quick little commercial break. We are here with the MLM Rock Star, David Wood. So, David, if you would, continue on with your story.

Where was I at? Oh, Ok. I recruited the 50 people into the new company I had started, and my income once again went to zero. And so I was really frustrated again. So, I quit that company, and I said that company is stupid, I am joining a new company. And on and on it went until finally, a few years back I ran into a company where a leader approached me. He said David, you got to check this out. And I said I am so frustrated, I am about to throw in the towel and quit. This person taught me about systems, and they taught me about duplication, about working with a team. And that company I joined, and I was actually building offline. And in a 6 month period of time, I had replaced a full-time income working about 2 hours a day, built an organization of about a thousand people, with an average buy in of about a thousand dollars, and I actually did it all through home meetings and hotel meetings.

Well, I built that up for a couple years, got married, and then I completely ignored my business for a whole year, and I went and lived in Hawaii with my wife. When I went to Hawaii, my income just kind of dwindled down in that last company and I decided to get back involved in the industry a few months back, and that’s when I started looking for a different solution. Because I was sick of doing meeting 5 nights a week, sick of flying all over the place doing presentations. I just didn’t want to do it anymore.

So, I started looking online. I went online to YouTube, and I ran into a video by a guy named Adam Chandler, and I ran int to this current marketing system. And I said, this is the most brilliant thing that I have ever seen in my life. Never again will I ever engage in doing gigantic hotel meetings with people that I am pestering to death to get there. So, that’s how I ran into this. This is awesome. Yesterday I woke up by 8 A M, I had more than $300 in affiliate commissions in my bank account, all from yesterday, complete autopilot. The system does work and it works excellently. So, that’s my story. Here’s what we are going to go over today.

Number 1. I am going to go over the principles that drive traffic and search engine rankings. I am going to go over a four step content promotion strategy that works extremely well. I am going to go over a live demonstration where I show you how I do this step by step and hopefully you will be able to follow me through. I am going to try not to confuse you to death. I am going to go over a 100 day traffic challenge for all of you who want to use my strategy and generate massive amounts of traffic.
