Attraction Marketing Formula for Success – Change Your Attitude & You Will Increase Your Wealth

Recently, Jim Rohn, an icon in this industry, passed away. I was saddened by this event because I have followed Mr. Rohn for many years. I have read many of his books, watched many of his video presentations, and I have learned so much from his wonderful teachings. Jim Rohn taught the world that we all must invest in ourselves. We must educated ourselves in our business or we will remain stagnate and never taste success. He personally taught me something many years ago that changed my approached to this business. He said, “The book you never read won’t help.” Since hearing those words I have taken it upon myself to invested time and money into the study of my profession and into the areas of personal development. This past summer alone I spent nearly $10K in personal development books, CDs, DVDs, etc. One of the books I purchased, Attitude is Everything, is the topic for this particular discussion. I want to illustrate to you how your thoughts can (and will) determine the wealth you make in network marketing or in anything you seek.

We begin in chapter 4 by learning this important formula for success:
Thoughts + Words + Beliefs + Actions = Results

Here’s how it works. Tom has a THOUGHT, such as “I’m not very good when it comes to sales.” Now, let’s remember that he doesn’t have this thought only once. Oh, no. He’s run it through his mind on a regular basis, maybe hundreds or thousands of times in his life!

You can easily replace “sales” with any tasks you normally tell yourself you can not do. Such as, video marketing, writing articles, speaking with prospects on the phone, generating leads, etc. It all begins with your thoughts.

Let’s continue…

Then, Tom starts to use WORDS that support this thought. He says to his friends and colleagues, “I’m never going to do very well in sales” or “I just hate making sales calls or approaching prospects.” Here again, Tom repeats these phrases over and over… in his self-talk and in his discussions with others.

This, in turn, strengthens his BELIEFS — and it’s at this stage where the rubber really meets the road. You see, everything that you’ll achieve in your life flows from your beliefs. So, in our sales example, Tom develops the belief that he’s not going to be successful in sales and that he won’t earn much money. This becomes embedded in his subconscious mind.

What can possibly flow from that belief? Because Tom doesn’t believe in his sales ability, he takes very little ACTION, or he takes actions that aren’t productive. He doesn’t do the things that would be necessary to succeed in sales.

And then, quite predictably, Tom gets very poor RESULTS.

To make matters worse, Tom then starts to think more negative thoughts… repeat more negative words… reinforce negative beliefs… and get even more negative results. It’s a vicious cycle!

Of course, this whole process could have had a very happy ending if Tom had selected positive THOUGHTS… and reinforced them with positive WORDS. In turn, he’d reinforce the BELIEF that he’s successful in sales. As a result, Tom would take the ACTIONS consistent with that belief… and wind up with outstanding RESULTS.

What a phenomenal illustration on how YOU will determine whether you succeed or fail in this industry. If you change your attitude, your wealth in this industry could drastically increase.

Now how you are going to change your attitude? If have not picked up on it yet, it’s through EDUCATION. Being knowledgeable in a certain area creates confidence. Confidence then creates attitude, because you know that you are valuable to others. You hold the goods. You are able to train others in areas where they need the most help.

If you do not have value right now, it is because you are spending little or no time educating yourself and creating the attitude. Therefore, I challenge you to spend at least one hour daily reading a book. Skip your favorite television program and focus on something that will help you reach your goals. Reinvest back into your education. If you ask any of the top marketers out there, they will tell you the same. The spent hundreds of thousands of dollars mastering their trade. You will need to do the same if you expect to make it to the next level.

There are also some free tools that are available on the Internet. Most of these resources come in the form of free gifts given to website owners for you taking a look at their business. I have personally built a huge collection of e-books and audios over the years from this strategy alone.

Do not shy away from accepting that free e-book that’s being offered from someone’s website. Many people are more concerned about being added to someone’s list than to to see it more as a way for you to receive free and valuable resources. Don’t let your pride or ignorance stand in the way of your growth. Take advantage of every available resource you can get your hands on.

Also, take advantage of the training materials that are provided to you from your MLM company. It happens all too often, distributors will take these products and stack them up in the corner of their basement, never to be opened, never to be used. And low and below, they later complain about how network marketing is a SCAM and how they failed in this industry.

Bottom-line, you are responsible for your own success and failures in your business (and life). Change your attitude and you will absolutely attract success.

Millennial – Network Marketing – Attraction Marketing.. Oh My!

Attraction marketing is based on building relationships. People buy from those they know, like and trust. So, in order to be successful in network marketing, you are going to have to network with others. If you are a Millennial this should be a real advantage for you.

All of the tools we utilize today are tools Millennials grew up using.

If you want to know how to use your iPhone.. contact a Millennial.

Don’t know how to use Twitter.. contact a Millennial.

I did not know how to use certain features in Camtasia 6, so what did I do?
I subscribed to a YouTube channel operated by – guess who? a young Millennial.

We have Google, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, iPhone, Blackberry and Blueberries.. umm..delicious.
These technological tools are available to all of us.

With the understanding that this technology is out there and almost everyone is using it, meaning a wider reach for your marketing..

Why are you still buying leads and cold calling strangers?

Do you really need to be employing the three foot rule or belly-to-belly prospecting?

Why are you conducting home meetings, hotel meeting and hanging fliers on cars… Why?

You don’t have to answer.. Let’s move on!

With all that’s available to us, the logical approach to marketing would be to build your business by implementing the principles of Attraction Marketing. I know, it’s not as fancy sounding as Squidoo Lenses.. Google Goggles… or Twitter Tweets. However, those fancy tools and terms are all a part of the marketing strategy..

If you never heard of Attraction marketing, I will tell you that this concept has been around for quite sometime; however, it was not widely known before Mike Dillard and Magnetic Sponsoring made it a standard marketing strategy. The concept is based on building relationships by offering value to your target market (Millennials, Boomers, Gen X, etc.). If the information you offer is of value, you will make a lot of sales and your profits will soar. On the other hand, if your information is perceived as being a sales pitch, you will make little money and/or have fewer repeat sales.

Do you now see the value in using attraction marketing to build your network marketing business? It’s really not about the Millennials, the Boomers or the Gen Xers, as much as it’s about applying the right approach and reaching your widest audience. So, take the time to learn these principles and understand Web 2.0 technology. You will save yourself lots of time and energy. More importantly, you will earn more money and have more fun doing it.

This post is a revision from a Squidoo Lens I wrote several months ago: How To Improve Your Business Relationships. I found out through my experiences over the years that attraction marketing is definitely the approach you MUST take in order to find success in the network marketing industry. And a fundamental principle of attraction marketing is establishing or building business relationships. It will take more effort to do, but the end result is a successful and thriving business. We live in a day and time where the know, like and trust factor is the number one thing that stands in the way of us building and growing a successful business.  Business relationships must be established in order for you to succeed.  Your customers must be able to clearly know you are there to assist them by offering them something that is truly of value.  They have to be able to know that you have their best interest at heart.  They must be able to define you, your business, and the products/services you provide.

When I began my online business venture, I had a difficult time building business relationships.  I poured everything I had into meeting people and providing them solutions based on the knowledge I possessed.  I followed the attraction marketing principles by joining a countless number of social networking sites, and I constantly engaged in conversations with everyone I met.  I retweeted tweets on Twitter.  I shared or posted their Facebook updates on my wall.  I commented on their blogs.  I did everything I was supposed to do, but for some reason, I was getting ZERO results.

I could not get a single person to retweet my messages. I could not get any of them to share my Facebook updates.  I could not sell a single product.  Geezzz.. I could not even get my upline sponsors, the people who recruited me into the business, to follow me on these social networking sites.  Now how depressing is that?

Why was I having such a difficult time in building business relationships?

Simple.. they did not know, like, or trust me.

Sure, they saw me as a nice guy, but maybe they also thought I had some hidden agenda.  People are really immune to the nice guy approach these days.  They will listen to you all day long, but when it comes down to taking action, they are very hesitant to take the next step — trusting you.  They have questions about your character.  How could this person be that nice?? Why would he want to help me??  What is in it for him??  Is this offer really free??  These are some of the questions they ask.

With the growing number of scam offers out there, you really can’t blame them for questioning your trust.  People are losing their hard earned money at an alarming rate, and your offer to provide them “a valuable service” is distorted by the facts.  Here are the facts:

The above stats were randomly pulled from the NCL 2008 Fraud Report.  There were other scams identified, but I only pulled these for my illustration purposes.  You can see the full report at NCLnet.org.


Can you now imagine how terrified people must be of you and your so called business?  Can you imagine the amount of trust you must establish with them in order to get them to buy from you?  Today, it takes 10 times as much effort to build relationships as it took in 1997, which is when I originally started in this industry.  You really have to be more than just a nice guy (or gal), you have to have sources or credentials to prove it (content, testimonies, etc.).

You have do more than talk the talk, you have to also be able to walk the walk.

Prove it to me! Show me what you’ve done!

Your walk comes in the form of your content (value). You have to show people what you have done and let your work speak for itself.  This can come in the form having the best blog site to writing some of the most engaging articles.  The more useful content you put out on the Web, the more valuable you become. The more valuable you become, the more profitable your business, and the easier it becomes to gather a following.

So, what can you learn from my experience?

You need to know that your main focus should be on your content.  Go out there and build the best blog site, and people will notice.  Write some of the most helpful ezine articles, and people will notice.  Once you start focusing on your content (value), you will began to see a significant amount of support from your upline and everyone else around you.  People will start to comment on your Squidoo lenses. People will start to seek your advice. They will retweet your tweets and share your status updates.  You will finally break through the barrier.  You will be known, truly liked, and highly trusted in your online community!

If you are following an attraction marketing blueprint, you do not just focus on making a sale but you focus on making and retaining customers for the life of your business. Attraction marketing aims at connecting your clients with your passion for business. Believe it or not, while people may like to buy things; they do not like the feeling that they are being sold something. Yes, that is kind of weird, but it is the psychological mindset we all have in us. We want a great deal, but we want the decision to buy based on our own internal wants and desires.

Attraction marketing is based on relationship building and it does not include resistance and struggle. You are said to be leading and not selling products or services when you utilize the principles of attraction marketing. Your customers will buy from you because they know, like and trust you. This is of course after they know of the value you offer. It is your job to ensure that your customers are getting the best value for their money and the best services that you can ever provide. As long as you are following this blueprint, you will absolutely succeed in this industry.

To succeed in attraction marketing, you can follow these simple tips:

    Keep the end in mind- How do you see your business in the next 3-5 years? You need to keep this in mind so that you can take necessary actions to succeed. Just ask yourself how you want your business to be after five years. This will give you an idea of what you should be doing. This will also help motivate you to make your business a success.

    You need to know what exactly you want your business to do. Think of the amount of income you would like your business to generate for you every month. Think of the impact your business will make on the people who will utilize your products and services. Finally, think of the impact your business will make on your own lifestyle.

    What is your measure of success? Everyone has a different end state. For you, success may be earning a couple thousand dollars a month to help with the bills. Perhaps you are looking to make money so that you can support your local charity. Or maybe success to you in based on the lives that are changed because of your business. It’s completely up to you to where success measures in your business, and it is only by believing you can find success will you ever achieve it. Always remember that as long as you have the determination to succeed, success will not be very far from your reach. With determination, you will have enthusiasm as well as confidence.

    What kind of help would you like to offer to your clients? Once you know what kind of solutions you would like to offer to your customers, you will be able to work towards improving your services or products to suit the needs and requirements of your clients.

    What is it about your business that you are most passionate about? Your passion and desire for your business will be expressed in the products and services you provide to your customers. You need to find out about this so that you can help your clients better.

Let your passion for your business speak for itself by the products you provide and the solutions you offer. By doing this, you will be able to build a growing list of happy customers. Customers that will comeback to you time and time again because of the value you provide them. This is the essence of attraction marketing, and it is the attraction marketing blueprint you must follow.

Have you ever heard the saying, “I know that I waste half of my advertising budget. The problem is I don’t know which half!” It is this very philosophy that is prompting me to strongly inform you… advertising doesn’t work!

Let me show you why:

  • There is no way to track effectiveness (or ineffectiveness)
  • It’s impersonal
  • The target audience is too large

What surprises me is the number of small business owners that save their marketing dollars just to waste them on ineffective advertising. Then, they complain because nothing is working and they don’t have any customers.

So how is follow-up marketing better than advertising?

  • You can track response rates
  • You can quickly change campaigns that aren’t working
  • You can specifically target your audience
  • It leads prospects to an immediate sell

If you really want to attract more customers, you will learn to market and leave the advertising to those gazillion dollar companies.
